DeLay pushing anti-reform message before he begins lobbying work
Tom DeLay, after complaining about a Democratic conspiracy for the last few days, all of a sudden turned his blame towards the GOP in a quote that the conservative Washington Times newspaper found from a few days ago after he announced his retirement:
"We (Republicans) don't have an agreed agenda -- breaking up our leadership has taken its toll."
Think about what this really means. The whole idea behind breaking up the leadership is for the GOP to be in a position where their highest-ranking lawmakers will support some sort of ethics reform. But Tom DeLay does not want reform. He seems to have mastered the current system quite well. All DeLay wants to do before he starts his new D.C. lobbying work is keep his closest colleagues as high up in the GOP Congressional hierarchy as possible, making life easier for him and other conservative lobbyists that donate to Republican lawmakers. It will be a tough task for the former House Majority Leader. But they don't call him "the hammer" for nothing.
