TN-Sen: Hypocrisy and discrimination plague Tennessee Senate race
Let's attack the black guy and his father and give a free pass to Corker's family.
Until President Bush made the error of changing the subject back to Iraq two days ago, the Republicans had Harold Ford right where they wanted him. The bachelor Ford admitted that he attended a Superbowl party last year that was sponsored by the Playboy company. When you couple that revelation with the racially driven GOP ad that was finally pulled yesterday, Ford has been successfully branded by GOP strategists as someone that does not share Tennessee's southern values.
While Ford faced all this scrutiny, Republican Bob Corker still has refused to comment on the photos that surfaced of his college-aged daughter that showed her engaging in behavior that many Tennessee voters would be embarrassed to see out of the daughter of a Senate candidate whose main theme is family values. One of the photos showed her making out with another girl. Don't you think that the Republicans would be all over Ford with smear ads if a photo surfaced of his son kissing another guy? Or how about if his son was dating a white woman?
Well, the Ford Campaign won't have to worry about that because Harold Ford doesn't have kids. He isn't even married. So for some reason it is a sin for a single man to go to a Superbowl party that was just sponsored by Playboy? However, if a Republican's daughter is caught making out with another girl, then it's no big deal.
Obviously what Corker's daughter did was her own right. But these photos are an example of the hypocrisy that is plaguing this Senate race. They blame Ford for attending a party, yet Corker's daughter was at a party herself, making out with another girl. They brand Ford as weak on immigration, yet Corker's former company hired illegal immigrants to work on his job site.
There is a double standard in place that, more than anything else, is distracting voter attention away from Iraq. How is Ford attending a Superbowl party sponsored by Playboy more important than a conflict where our brave troops are dying each day? In fact, five more died yesterday. But nevermind that -- let's be sure to keep our eye on the black guy.

Wow. It looks as if Harold Ford has gotten a hold of her.

No George, it looks like another young white woman has got a hold of her. I don't see Harold Ford in the picture at all.

Ford should run an ad on this & at the end have that blond bimbo from Corker's ad say: "Julia, give me a call!"

Why can't some independent entity air these Corker daughter photos countering the other nasty ad. Or give it to YouTube and make that link available to the entire Internet

Are you telling me that 2 white girls could have done this? There must be a black guy involved somehow! Most likely Harold Ford too. I'm investigating, dont worry.
oh gosh, now I'm dripping with sarcasm.

Oh my gosh! That is so true George! The photos don't pass the test....so they won't work.

fuck republicans.

Remember, our #@$@%@ presidents daughters are the biggest 'party girls' out there. It's ok for them to be morally bankrupt little sluts, but NEVER democrats.
Typical and repulsive.

Corkers daughters behavior does raise the eyebrows of quite a few evangelicals.
Its not only Corkers daughter its his wife Betty as well that caused private angst of his campaign staff. She has been kept under wraps during this senate race. Betty has as her private chef a woman who is married, to another woman. This lifestyle seems to be something that tends to run through the Corker circles. Its also not something thats would go over well with his new found base.

I don;t think Mr. Ford really wants to win the election by hurting Mr. Corker's family. The republicans are smearing Mr. Ford instead of talking about what is right for Tenn. The people of Tenn. will vote for whoever they believe will make Tenn. prosper.

This pictures have been going around for a while now. I live in Chattanooga and there is a new ad playing about Corker and it's his daughters and wife talking about how funny he is and "there for them" he is and all this other crap that I want to barf at. I wish the DSCC would talk more about this hypocriacy. I thought Ford answered the Playboy attack really brilliantly. He is a thirty something year old single guy who was invited to the party as himself and not as a Congressman. He should be able to do whatever he wants but since he has a (d) after his name he can't. Of course this is what happens in Bush's Amerika.

Wow is this true about their private chef? That would be interesting information. The whole family is now involved with the campaign so it's fair game. I would love an ad that shows that picture and any others and than try to find out about the chef and if it's true and ask them why the whole family is a bunch of hypocrites. Oh that would be soo good!
Posted by: Emily | 2006.10.30 at 07:48 AM
I think it's right that Ford stays on the issues and has stayed positive. I think if they were to do an ad is a third party like the DSCC or something. That way Ford doesn't personally have to get involved but I think people should know what a hypocrite Corker and his family is.

if there were a strong third party candidate,i would show super fly on one side and eddie haskell on the other.

Why is employing a lesbian chef being a hypoctite?
The way I look at it, seems the Republicans look more accepting to this than all you Dems are being about it.
I thought you all liked gay couples? So why trash a Rep. if his wife has a gay chef? Doesn't that show tollerance? If she is the best chef they interviewed, who cares about her sexual preference.. that is how I see it.
In fact I would play that up if it was really true.
Hey, they shouldn't be allowed to get married, that is all WE Republicans are saying.. You can do what you want other than that.
Even on the Left coast, the bill on marriage being defined as one man and one woman passed by over 62%!
I love how in one sentence the blogger states:
"Obviously what Corker's daughter did was her own right."
and the VERY NEXT SENTENCE you link HIS DAUGHTER with some perceived problem running through the Rep. Senators:
"But these photos are an example of the hypocrisy that is plaguing this Senate race. They blame Ford for attending a party, yet Corker's daughter was at a party herself, making out with another girl."
How is the dealings of offspring even news here?
Just like when news of Clinton's daughter was aired..who the hell cares about the mistakes and doings of the Pres daughter.
Hell if you are not going to care about the Pres Schtupping interns and then trying to witness tamper and then committing purgery, who cares about the offspring?
I could care less if the daughters (Oh by the way, Chenney's daughter is a lesbian.. and he is republican last I checked.. oh we are so intollerent!)..or sons of any political official makes an ass of themselves at a party.
Big whoop.
Like no one has went nutty at a party when in their youth.
What does that have to do with the issues of Ford being the weaker candidate?
Wanting to bring back the "marriage penalty" tax, make it tougher for the Fed to crack down on terrorists.. I am sure he is probably not for profiling, and taking away more gun rights.
Its funny to read this tripe and see how you lefty fantatics think.
Keeps me optomistic even more so for less and less Democratic law making down the line.
And don't get me wrong. I kind of hope you do win the House back. I really, really wanna see Nancy Pelosi go hog wild with her left leaning slant, and constatnly trying to impeach Bush and see the backlash 2 years later in 2008!
Much love to you all!
Such a breath of fresh air.

I am from Memphis and I agree the Repulicans are extremely naive. Corker preaches family values, but his daughter is seen kissing another woman. Ford attended a Playboy party, so playboy centerfolds have no morales and uneducated dimwitted broads as the Republicans stress? The Republicans made a big deal out of the Kerry remark when everyone who does have a brain (Democrats) knew exactly what he meant.Check your history and you will find the same people who are Republicans were Democrats and vice versa before the 60's. The reason why they changed parties,Democrats became sympathetic to the civil rights movement and Republicans denounced their allegiance. Its not about the right man, here in Tennessee, especially east tennesse, it's the white man for the job. I refused to capitalize east tennessee.

St Mary's "Catholic" School??????????
IF you really want to make some noise see where the Catholic Church stands on the pictures if they were taken on school grounds, ect, and let them go all public denouncing that behavior. It'd keep the pictures and Corker's name in a negative light longer.
Opps too late.
